Vascepa is a prescription Omega 3 drug for patients with severe hypertriglyceridemia. It is manufactured by Amarin Corporation. AstraZenca acquired the Omega-3 drug, Epanova, from Omthera Pharmaceuticals in 2013. AstraZeneca, headquartered in London, is second to GlaxoSmithKline among British pharmaceutical companies which manufactures the Omega-3 Lovaza. Currently, AstraZeneca is being pursued by Pfizer. Confusing? According to the New York Times, there has been a wave of consolidations in the pharmaceutical industry due in part to a tax loophole to avoid higher corporate taxes in the United States.[1]
Today, Amarin Corporation launched an advertising campaign headed by Rick Harrison, host of Pawn Stars, to help market the Vascepa brand.
