How to lose weight? You’re here because your current eating and exercise habits are not working. You want to make a change, but before you can do that, you must know what needs to be changed.
Step 1: How Many Calories to Maintain Current Weight
Let’s figure out the number of calories needed to maintain your current weight. That means, calories burnt just by going about your regular day. Learning your daily calories and identifying ways you’ve been sabotaging weight loss through your food and movement journals (below) will lead to changes that shed pounds fast.
Step 2: Food Analysis
Let’s see what, when, how much, where and with whom you’re eating. We’ll also track what you were feeling and if you were even hungry. Starting right now, Sarah and I want you to write down every single thing you eat, drink, snack on, use as a condiment, add to coffee, etc. Don’t worry about counting calories for now, just record it for at least a few days.

Step 3: Activity Analysis
Sarah and I also want you to record every activity (and inactivity) in your day with this free activity journal. Do this while also keeping the food journal in Step 2. This goes beyond exercise and records what you do each hour of the day. The time you wake up/go to sleep. Hours you stand, sit, walk, drive, shop, use computer, watch TV, play with the kids, do yardwork, etc.

Step 4: Effective Eating
When you’re done, together we’ll evaluate the results and tweak your day for better health and weight loss.
Step 5: Optimized Schedule
When you’re done, we’ll discuss changes that will add years to your life and take weight off your body.
Step 6: Body Weight and Measurements
